Isle of Wight Aviation Museum, U.K. – Tony Smart

The Wight Aviation Museum, Sandown Airport, United Kingdom has recently received a donation of a D4 Mk II Link trainer.  Tony Smart is the Technical Director of the museum; he and his associates plan on restoring the trainer.  The D4 was Link’s British military trainer.  It was built in England via license by Air Trainers Ltd. of Aylesbury, England.  The museum’s BAC Jet Provost version of the D4 is newer than typical Blue Box trainers and has a more advanced complement of navigation aids including a moving map and instructor’s console.
