Seat details

The seat pan is one of those parts that sometimes gets lost over the years.  It is often removed during maintenance.  Here are some seat pan photos including rulers in case you need to build a replacement seat.  The wood seems to be clear pine.  Leather covering.  We think this is an original unmodified seat.

The back consists of a tufted leather covered pad. Ours is about 3/8” thick, but was likely a bit thicker years ago. It has ¼” metal grommets spaced approximately every 1.5” around the perimeter of the back. The back pad is only supported around its perimeter. The left, top, and right side frame supports have holes drilled to match the back pad’s grommet spacing. A straight wooden block supports the bottom. The top lateral wooden support is curved back approximately 3.25” in its center behind the plane of the left, right, and bottom frame. The bottom grommets are screwed into the bottom block of wood. The left, top, and right side of the pad are laced with heavy cord to the perforated rear frame supports.  The left and right frame supports are constructed of 3/8″ 3-ply plywood.
