Col. Tim Dyer is an electrical contractor heading up the restoration of a twin engine Link Trainer for CAF’s Rocky Mountain Wing. He also belongs to the Palm Springs Air Museum. According to the Rocky Mountain Wing researching their trainer, it is the only twin engine Blue Box ever built. Tim relates the following story: “Ed [Link] went up to Canada after the Canadian military requested a twin engine trainer. Ed accepted the contract and proceeded to design one in Canada. He discovered a couple of their engineers were copying his research. Ed told them that [he would take them to court if they came] out with a twin engine and furthermore [he would] never produce any twin engine trainer.”
Subsequently, in 1950 an Monarch airline based in Grand Junction, Colorado, modified a single engine Link trainer for dual engine training.
