Wendover Museum; Western Sky Warbirds Museum — Steven Shepherd

A garage full of two Blue Boxes from the Wendover Museum.

Steven Shepherd is rebuilding a 1943 Blue Box from the Wendover Museum in Utah.  This museum is located just west of the Bonneville salt flats. He has two cockpits; one is still mounted on the base.  Most of his instruments are in pretty good shape.  He is starting work with the pitch and yaw bellows.  Steven is removing old fuselage fabric in preparation for replacement; he is also replacing brittle wiring.

Throttle with cracked housing. Many pot metal parts in Blue Boxes have cracked over the years.

Update October 2023

After over a year of restoration work, Wendover’s C-3 trainer made its debut at the Western Sky Warbirds Museum at St. George, Utah airport.  What a beautiful job.
