Jack Tims is restoring an ANT-18 for the Champaign Aviation Museum in Urbana, Ohio. Jack’s knowledge of Link flight instrument trainers came from his experience restoring a Link trainer in 1981 and a career as a flight simulator technician. The Champaign Aviation Museum’s goal is to restore the Link trainer to full operational capability. Their trainer was donated by the WACO museum in Troy, Ohio.
He has restored all of the bellows in their ANT-18, and tested the yaw turning motor. Watch his Blue Box yaw.
Jack is a pro at vintage restorations. You can see him driving around town in his beautifully restored “Model A” Ford.
